With the school year barely a month old, the number of threats and incidents of violence has teachers and administrators worrying about safety.
And one elementary school in Pennsylvania is wasting no time installing new measures to keep kids safe.
As of today, parents of students at Neil Armstrong Elementary School in Scranton are required to make an appointment before entering the school.
The principal says the new measure is in response to Monday's shootings in Lancaster County.
District officials say they may extend the rule to other school buildings in the district if it proves to be successful at Armstrong.
Officials say most matters don't require a visit anyway -- they can be addressed over the phone. |
